Senior / Application Engineer, Optimization - CAE Simulation Software - Fluid Dynamics

POSITION PROFILE:

The successful candidate must have proven experience in optimization techniques applied to engineering design and should have specific skills in Response Surfaces, Design of Experiments and automated optimization. The Senior / Application Engineer for Optimization will help deploy Exa’s Optimization Solution for applying optimization to Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) problems in aerodynamics, aero-acoustics and aero-thermal dynamics. The context for this work will be advanced CFD projects conducted by Exa’s engineering staff at customer sites, which includes virtually every ground transportation OEM worldwide.

Exa’s PowerFLOW Optimization Solution has been newly released in the form of productized software and best practices.  Exa’s optimization team will now be implementing this new solution across Exa’s client base and maintaining and updating Exa’s optimization best practices, a process in which the Senior / Application Engineer for Optimization will be directly involved.

Primary responsibilities will include:

  • Activities related to the deployment of Exa’s Optimization Solution
  • Driving optimization efforts at client accounts
  • Driving client implementation and process change
  • Maintaining and updating Exa’s best practices for optimization
  • Gathering feedback and compiling requirements from clients
  • Product improvements and perfective maintenance

 

REQUIREMENTS:

 

  • MS or PhD in Engineering or related discipline
  • Minimum 1+ years experience applying optimization techniques in a Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) environment
  • Experience with commercial optimization/automation tools (preferences are modeFRONTIER and Isight)
  • Strong interest in Application Engineering, possessing traits including:
  • Excellent English communications and interpersonal skills
  • Strong English written skills and critical thinking abilities to design and specify a complex system
  • Ability to work on and with a team to drive new projects and accomplish challenging tasks broad in scope
  • Ability to lead meetings, take initiative on tasks, and to work efficiently and independently
  • Ability to consistently demonstrate influencing leadership skills with both field engineering teams and external customers
  • Availability to travel 10% (domestic/international).

 

 

Additional Experience (Optional):

 

Fluid Dynamics, CAD, mesh model development and / or automotive design and engineering experience a definite plus.
